Most of us can feel a bit stuck from time to time. Maybe we’ve reached a point in life where we no longer feel a sense of direction or purpose, or perhaps the life we’re currently leading isn’t giving us a sufficient sense of personal satisfaction, achievement or reward.
Sometimes it can be difficult to identify what exactly needs to change to make things better for ourselves. The role of a therapist in facilitating personal change, development and growth is to help the individual focus on increasing their level of self-awareness by identifying any emotional blocks or self-sabotaging tendencies that may potentially be getting in the way of their progress. By assessing personal strengths and aspirations and helping the person to set measurable and achievable goals, the therapist can then further support the individual in formulating a sustainable action plan for bringing about positive change or development in the desired areas.
